    • Hi Sparrow - I only called it a viper byte because my opinions can tend to be unpopular. No harshness meant for you, only love.

I fully expect you to stand by your opinion because you are an intelligent woman that has much wisdom to offer us all. Are opinions may differ on some things but it will never change my respect for you. You have even swayed my opinions on some subjects.

So to expand on my point, when someone gets initiated, there must be someone else that passes judgement on the initiate. I do not believe anyone else can do that for a person, only the gods. I am very interested in hearing your difference between Wiccan and witch.

I'm sending lots of "serpent kisses" your way as always.
      Love you!

    • I love you, Sylvanus!

To me Wicca is a religion/faith/worship of the Gods.
      Witchcraft is a skill set.
To be a Witch is to use that skill set.
      Witches aren't necessarily religious.
Witches can practice another faith or no faith at all.
Wiccans can be witches and more often than not, are. Some wiccans don't consider themselves witches, but not many.

      Again, these are my opinions.

    • Viper Byte: I'm still finishing the episode but thought I would comment on the "what makes a Wiccan" discussion. I absolutely disagree with Sparrow. (Sorry). I believe that being a Wiccan comes from the inside. I started as a solitary and had not read many books about Wicca at all. It did not make me any less Wiccan than someone who read every book and initiated into a coven. I do not need another priest/priestess to tell me I am now a Wiccan. If you were meant to be a witch, you are born that way.
We missed you at dfest. We all send our love. I can hardly wait to finish the episode.

    • Tricky Pixie is my new favorite band! :-)I have started to see Wicca as kind of the clergy of the Witchy path. (I know that this isn't entirely accurate, but this is how it seems to me.) I think you can be a follower of the Craft without being Wiccan. Thanks for the new episode!
      Best of witches,

    • Sylvanus, it\'s fair to say that you disagree with me. As I said in the show, I was voicing my opinion. Perhaps it was a bit to the left. I will go with that. However, I stand by my opinion that someone can\'t be a Wiccan after reading ONE book. I didn\'t mean that if you read 100 books on Wicca that you are a Wiccan. I was talking about those people that read such and such a book and then think they are Wiccan based on that without having an inner discourse.
I also stand behind my opinion that if you are self initiated then that is between you and the Gods. Therefore, it is not between you and another person. I will also say that I do believe that Wicca is a mystery and initiatory religion. That is my belief. It doesn\'t have to be anyone elses.
I will also say that I believe that being a Witch and being a Wiccan are two different things.
Sylvanus, You are one of the most inspiring Wiccans/Witches I know. You and the incredible people you circle with give me so much to aspire to. I consider your note a serpent kiss not a viper byte.
It\'s not my place, and never will be, to decide who is Wiccan and who is not. It is however my place to let people know what I think. That\'s what I do and it\'s always about the LOVE.
      Love you and miss you,
      Sparrow
