- A fabulous episode as always. It's so touching to hear you (Sparrow) get emotional about your dedicants, we are all connected and the people we are more closely connected to can affect us in incredibly deep, passionate ways that we have no idea they can sometimes. Beautiful! :)
- Sparrow and Mojo,
"Lovers in dangerous time" - I heard this today and it made me absolutely break down. It made me think of Alonso (my lover back in 1992, the story is in my 'notes' on my Facebook page). If only we had known just how dangerous our love was, and imagine if we had been allowed to get married, he would not have been murdered.
It took me 16 years to learn the truth about what had happened to him. Bascially, in August 1992, I had to leave his country and my visa expired. We had tried to find a way to stay together, including marriage. But at that time it was impossible just about everywhere. We made plans to keep trying, but as soon as I left contact was lost. After many years, I found out it was because he had been murdered by his own family shortly after I left because of our love for one another. I am still having a lot of trouble dealing with it. He was the last boyfriend I had and the one and only person I ever spent a 'Valentine's Day' with, so it's been emotionally intense.
Thanks for playing the song - knowing what really happened to Alonso has only made me even more out-spoken about the need for full Civil and Equal Rights here in the US and everywhere. Even still today, in the states where same-sex marriage are allowed, it DOES NOT apply to international couples.
I love your podcast!
Thanks,
Marlon (Asheville, North Carolina)
